Welcome to the Licensing Department at the University of Notre Dame. We are responsible for managing the use of all names, logos and other intellectual property owned by Notre Dame. Purchasing an “officially licensed” product directly benefits the University’s academic programs, student groups, and research. Take a look!

How do I know if it’s official?

You can tell you’re purchasing an officially licensed Notre Dame product by looking for the Officially Licensed hologram hangtag or sticker. The hangtag is double-sided, with the opposite featuring welcome.nd.edu.

Why Should I #LookForTheLabel?

Our licensed vendors meet and often exceed the manufacturing standards in our Labor Code of Conduct. That means that by purchasing your favorite officially licensed Notre Dame t-shirt, hat, mug and tailgate toss, you can actually help to encourage the improvement of worldwide labor standards.

If that’s not enough to make you look for the hologram tag or sticker, you are also helping to fund academic programs at Notre Dame.

Be sure to #LookForTheLabel, and feel a little extra awesome about your officially licensed purchase!

What is a trademark?

A trademark is any word, name, symbol, etc. that is used to distinguish goods and services from others. Notre Dame owns several different trademarks, including the monogram, Leprechaun, Shamrock, and the name “University of Notre Dame.”
